Sorry, I’ve got a bit behind with the blog. We spend the rest of Sunday exploring downtown Uyuni - much more to it than first impressions. Monday was all about our trip to the salt flats. The largest and highest in the world. Dazing beauty beyond words.
View from the hostel in Uyuni
Large cooking pot?
Loads of different fruit
The main railway line. Now only freight from the mineral mines and quarries
The train graveyard. Abandoned here after the introduction of diesel engines. These engines originally came from England and France
Our transport for the day
A small part of the salt flats from the island where we had lunch
Hundreds of cacti on this island. Some over 1000 years old
Nearby dormant volcano
Our small tour group
Looks like ice but is solid salt - metres thick in places
Playing with photos
Playing with perspective. Feeding Mrs C a local wine
Amazing light gave great photo opportunities
It got very windy but didn’t stop Mrs C enjoying wine and snacks
Silly photo of the tour group
