Raine: I’m just sitting on the deck with a glass of wine reflecting on our day…We spent the morning with maps iPads and notebooks working on the next stage of our trip. All our plans have shifted a bit because of the horrendous forest fires in Puerto Montt and Valparaiso, Chile. The footage of the fires has been horrific and I feel so sad all those people who have lost everything. We’ve planned to stay in Argentina til the 8/2.
One of the many things I’ve enjoyed about Argentina is the Sunday closing of shops. We headed into Bariloche this afternoon to wander round the town and have an ice cream. The town is all about the ski season and tourists…it’s all quite new and built in a pseudo alpine style: it’s saving grace is the lake …a magical expanse of blue water edged with tiny beaches where seabirds potter around the people searching for scraps.
We were excited to discover that there were 3 vegetarian restaurants, 2 were all about the meat substitutes but the 3rd sold food on a plate by weight (like Tibits in London). It looked good but in reality it was a wholesome and tasteless … a bit like uk vegetarian cafes in the ‘80s!
Paul: fun fact; we are 7631 miles from home.

| I think this is a buff necked ibis. Confidently walking around on the shore of the lake really close to people |
 |
| The town has a mock alpine look. Bariloches is a major ski resort |
 |
| Had to have an ice cream. After all it is Sunday and summer |
 |
| A tourist bus that went round town |
 |
| Loads of specialty chocolate shops. It looks delicious |
You always have beautiful blue skies… and lots of yummy food. We look forward to where you’re planning to go nextxx
