A slow start this morning …had to have a second breakfast before leaving! Decided we still need to practise walking up steps ( day 2 of the Inca trail is all about steps) so we walked into town via a steep and circuitous route … I lost count of the steps this time… over 400 before 10.30 in the morning! Our walk took us to the statue Christo Blanco high above the town and then on to the steps down from Sacsayhuaman. We passed a plot of potatoes growing and a beautiful meadow of flowers. At the bottom of the steps we bought a massive cob of maize with cheese ( a popular local snack) and scrunched it as we walked a different way into town.
Visited the museum of Regional History which had some great artefacts and lots of information in English thankfully.
As usual the clouds began to gather later in the afternoon so we took the low road home via the apple pie shop…yummy 🙂
